Aloha!

Summer has been going faster this year..... Why the time flies when I am having fun?
I had a relaxing week under the palm trees with my family.
Actually we were busy while we were on vacation.
We rode a jet ski and went down to the ocean with a big tank( scuba diving wasn't a best thing for me though....) and snorkeling around the reef.
I used to enjoy snorkeling but after trying to learn scuba diving I got scared of ocean.....
But good foods made me feel better after all :)
I always thought that living in any island of Hawaii would be nice.
I would feel the warm breeze from the ocean while I create things.....
Someone in the island contacted me and she said she is a quilter!
I couldn't meet her since she and I were in different islands and I was on vacation with my family.
But it was a wonderful surprise to be connected with a person who has interest in bojagi!
She was interested in moshi fabric so I will send her some samples soon.
And I hope to meet her in person when she comes over to the bay area for the quilt show in October.
"Very pleased to talk to you, Carlene!"

Carlene!"

Moshi bojagi for summer

Actually this was done in spring.
But it shines best in summer!
Moshi is used a lot in Korea's hot and humid summer days.
Summer in Pleasanton is very hot, too.
Today's high will be 102 F.
It's not as humid and muggy as Korea but still I need something to cool down this hot afternoon.

New items at Etsy

I posted these bags on my Etsy site last week and two of them already found a new home!
A lady from Midwest ordered two bags for her Korean mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
So happy to share my culture and art with people!

I am cutting more fabrics now for more.
It is always fun to make my own designs into a one of a kind creations.
And thanks to my model who made my bags look better :)

Another news from the bragging mom

Yes, it's another bragging moment for a proud mom!
My daughter is always busy making things.
Regardless of whether it's during school days or summer break, her sewing machine doesn't stop running.
Now she is a young entrepreneur!
She opened her own Etsy shop a couple weeks ago and sales are happening :)
Here are some of her products.
This is a detachable Peter Pan collar with ribbons-so far this one is her bestseller!
This one is upcycled ribbon hair band made from old necktie.
And this one is a over sized wool bow hairband.

You can see more cool things at her website here!

Again, I am a proud mom of an artist!

Small things make me happy

This summer has been relaxing but still productive.
One new thing that I added to my life was start to running.
Bike riding is still my favorite outdoor activity but I always was curious about running.
One day I bought a nice pair of running shoes with a good support and started to go running around my neighborhood.
Boy, it was hard at the beginning! I hardly could run ONE mile.....
I had to run and walk and run for this one mile with out of breath.
But gradually I can run longer distance and now I can enjoy running 3 miles 4-5 times a week.
My mile time is not great but who cares? I just enjoy turning into a tomato colored face!
Next goal is running 5k at local event run and hope I can be brave enough to sign myself up.

Recently I made bags with moshi bojagi technique.
I got a strip of left over patch worked piece.
So I made it into a coasters for summer drinks.
Would you like to have some tea with me?

For Esther

Esther wanted to give a special gift for her friend's daughter's wedding.
I made 4 lily pad place mats for this bride.
I never met the bride but wishing her happy marriage while I was making these.

Machines are running everyday!

We have two sewing machines in my house. We have two women using them almost everyday.
We have two rooms back to back and you can hear this sweet sound of sewing machine from our rooms.

As you noticed, I am a bragging mom! Yes, I am talking about my baby( she might not be happy to be called as a baby though).
She was busy making costumes for school play, Fanime costumes and often make one of a kind outfit for herself.
It is not strange to see our old duvet cover turns into a chevron patterned flare skirt in my house.
Here are some picture of her creations for Fanime last year and this year.

This was her friend's birthday present and they went to Fanime together.

And this is the last night of the spring comedy at her school. She made many of the costumes that you can see from this picture!
I wonder what she will show me next!

This posting is especially for my mom who always wants to know what her granddaughter is doing.
